About Jennifer
Founded in 2020 after years of working in 1:1 Special Education, BehaviorSmith Consultation seeks to help you succeed in skill acquisition and problem identification.
M.A. in Applied Behavior Analysis from the University of South Florida (2019) and a B.A. in Psychology with minor in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin (2016). Several years experience tutoring children 5-12 in all subjects, with years of experience conducting research and creating collegiate level written work. Available for tutoring in all K-8 level courses and HS and collegiate level writing and research assignments. Very fluent with APA style formatting and familiar with MLA style.
I love watching my students grasp concepts and work through the hard stuff! I very much have a growth mindset philosophy and believe that anyone is capable of learning anything, so long as the instruction is tailored accordingly!
I have always been a lifelong learner and that passion translates to teaching! Beginning in high school, I tutored students in English and Social Studies. Upon graduation, began a freelance tutoring service for English 1301 and 1302.
As an undergraduate student, I worked as research assistant at the Tucker-Harden Drobb lab, completing various psychological assessments and DNA collection. After graduating in the top 3% of my college with Highest Honors, I continued to pursue my love of teaching and helping as a Behavior Technician for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
During my work as a Registered Behavior Technician, I used the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to increase skill acquisition and reduce problem behavior for students of all ages and abilities in a multitude of environments.
During my graduate education, I designed numerous curriculums for students, as well as developing training materials and a robust training program for new Behavior Technicians.
Master's in Applied Behavior Analysis with several years experience working 1:1 with students of all ages.
Trained in ABA, PBIS, and the Lindamood-Bell Seeing Stars curriculum for literacy acquisition.

The typical process involves a review of the student's portfolio and past work, as well as a substantial review of course syllabi and expectations. Together, the student and I work to establish session goals and longer term goals, then periodically review goals.
Data on the students progress will be collected and periodically presented, t demonstrate efficacy of tutoring and student growth.
I have worked with students off all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
