My name's Kevin Allen. I teach creative technologies and have gained over a decades worth of experience as a graphic designer and digital illustrator in Denver Colorado. Now, I seek to pass on those skills to students of all ages.

I've loved drawing and painting since I was a kid. But the world has seen so much advancement since then. I had to change my techniques to market myself to a technological world. So, I learned how to merge my skills with technology. Now, I enjoy making comics, character designs, logos, and much more!
It first began with one-to-one teaching with a few young adults here and there. I found the experience to be very fulfilling and began to seriously consider switching my career.
The principle where I currently teach was looking for a new technology teacher with a focus in graphics. I jumped at the chance and find myself doing it today and loving it!
With Summer around the corner, I want to fill that open time with more one-to-one teaching.
I've spent over a decade of my time as a professional graphic designer and digital illustrator. I've worked with Anheuser-Busch, Monster Energy, and other major companies as a designer. Most of my illustration career has been spent in freelance.
Now, I teach professionally as a secondary technology teacher. My primary focus during the school year is to enable my students to combine their creativity with technology in exciting, meaningful, and enriching ways.

First, and foremost, I work to establish a meaningful lesson for every individual I work with. I acheive this by asking what their interests are, what they hope to acheive, and their long-term goals. Once we've had a moment to orient ourselves with one another, I build a lesson plan that is specifically built for them, their interests, and goals.
I've worked with middle school, high school, college, and adults in a veriaty of lesson and categories generally focused in creative technologies and drawing.
The advice I would offer is to have, at the very least, a goal. Hiring a professional teacher is a great step in improving your skills. However, setting goals and having a clear vision of the obstacles will help you succeed.
I love going to plays, concerts, and movies. When I'm not going out and enjoying performances, I play too many video games.

Details
My standard going rate is $60 an hour. And, I generally like to spend a minimum of 1 hour with students per lesson. I max out at 4 hours per lesson since I like to have time for my students to reflect on new skills and process them. Too much information can go to waste if you spend more than 4 hours building new connections.
