I was fortunate enough to have prof. Winska for multiple drawing classes, and to accompany her on a month long study abroad to her native Poland.

Prof. Winska is cheerful and charming, and her personality carries over to her teaching style. She always keeps things lighthearted in class, while still bringing substantive critique and technical expertise. Under her direction, my drawing skills improved dramatically, especially with regards to gestural life drawing and line quality considerations.

During our study abroad in Poland, I got to know her better on a personal level. She was a caring, fun loving, and professional chaperone and mentor throughout our month long trip in 2016.

Kalina is a fantastically creative individual and a patient teacher. Her ideas come back-to-back and feed off of one another, each one even better than the last. She's passionate about her work and it shines through in the way she teaches her students. Winska is a fantastic teacher who I enjoyed learning from and (later) tutoring for.

She is a highly accomplished artist who generously shares of her talents to help others learn concepts and techniques. Ultimately she helps students get in touch with their own natural creativity and find their personal voice of artistic self expression. She has high expectations of her students, and encourages and motivates them to to their best work. Under her guidance, her students make amazing artwork!

As a professor, Kalina Winska brings an innovative approach to her teachings, while still paying hommage to the traditional techniques and processes taught in fine art. The precision, detail, and ongoing exploration in her own work encourages her students to experiment with new ideas and methods. With her kindness and patience, Kalina Winska creates an inviting atmosphere for both artistic and personal growth.

Kalina Winska’s experience and ability as an instructor for beginning, intermediate, and advanced drawing along with 2D design, and figure drawing are excellent. I have had the pleasure to know and teach alongside Kalina for the past eight years. We’ve shared ideas, techniques, and practices for implementation in our classrooms. I‘ve specifically noted her willingness to engage with students when help is requested. While trained in more traditional methods of drawing her research is very contemporary in practice. She is very comfortable teaching from either perspective. Kalina is thorough and sincere with her commitments and she is also successful and active in her professional development constantly exhibiting in a variety of venues as well as participating in numerous residencies nationally and internationally. I applaud and respect Kalina as an artist and instructor.

I had the privilege of attending Professor Winska’s 2d design, drawing one and drawing two classes at Valdosta Statw University. The classes were well organized. The syllabus and assignments were easy to understand. Live instruction was easy to follow and comprehend. Her ability to transition a studio class to an online class, so efficiently and easily, during the COVID pandemic, was remarkable. Actually, I preferred the online version of drawing one. I was able to rewatch her instructional videos as often as needed, giving me a better understanding of the technique. She is, by far, one of my favorite professors.

During my time with Professor Winska, I greatly appreciated her dedication as a teacher and an artist. She was very involved and thorough when assisting me in developing my artistic vision and body of work. She held a high standard for quality artwork and offered constructive criticism which encouraged me to be sure I was always doing my best. She was also very understanding and supportive when addressing personal and creative struggles along the way. All the while, staying consistent in producing her own body of work, and being present in the art community. Overall, she was a pleasure to work with and is someone who continues to inspire me to share my own vision with the world.

Kalina is such a talented creative educator. She can be encouraging, informative, creative, and still make sure you are gaining the skills you are looking for. 100% you will be a better artist after working with her.
