About Tony
Hi there! My name is Tony, and I'm an independent tutor here for anyone that has a passion for wanting to learn how to create software and do web development.
I've always enjoyed helping others learn anything computer related. During college, I did some one-on-one tutoring on the side. Taught indirectly through a website I had with articles on setting up Linux servers and programming. Plus, a YouTube series on creating a replica of an old video game from my childhood.
I have a Bachelors degree in CIS along with many years of experience with the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP), C/C++, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks. I might as well mention working with the Shopify REST API just in case there is anyone needing assistance with that type of scripting.
I like to think of myself as the jack of many trades as there are plenty of other technologies I haven't mentioned that I know. My specialty is coding, so if you need guidance with that, then I can definitely help you. Even setting up a DNS, Web, or Database server if that's on your to-learn list.
If you're just starting out, then the way I approach teaching is giving you the building blocks and then putting it all together with a project. I feel that's the best way to understand something new. If you already have some experience, then I'll ask what you need assistance with and go from there.
As much as I'd like to teach full time, I do have a day job. My availability is during evenings through video conference i.e. Google Meet. I can do in-person tutoring, however that is strictly limited to weekends, and you'll need to be in Southern California (Inland Empire to be exact).
