About James
I've been in IT for over 30 years and a software engineer for over 20 years. I've programmed in most popular programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, Python, and Perl.
I’ve recently found I love teaching. I've taught CompTIA’s Network+ to adults and teaching kids to code in Python, Javascript, and Java as well as web development in HTML5 and CSS.
I am certified as a C/C++ Master Programmer.

I was approached by a friend who was the scheduling director at a local business college. They had a class starting in A+ certification, but no instructor so she asked me if I would help her out until they hired someone. I agreed and enjoyed it so much I stayed on through the program.
I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Information Technology. I also have 30 years of experience in I.T. with the last 20 of those years in software engineering.

When working with a new student I like to get an idea of what problem areas they are experiencing so we can focus on those. Sometimes it may involve learning areas outside the focus topic in order to gain some context.
I have worked with adult students and school-age students between 5th and 12th grade.
Look for someone with real-world experience. Education is nice, but experience takes the learning to a whole different level.
