⁃Research and identify schools

⁃Perfect a personal statement

⁃Craft common application responses

⁃Prepare for interviews

⁃Celebrate acceptances!!

With over two years of experience working with High School students, I am confident we will get your child into the school that suits them best!

Having started to babysat at the age of 12, I have always been fond of working with and supporting others.

Through my years in high school and college I was a tutor for young students, specifically in elementary school.

After college, I had the opportunity to widen my circle and work with high school students on everything from essay writing to college applicaitons.

I have worked as a babysitter and tutor since the age of 12. From family friends to members of my larger community, I have been tasked with the care and support of many children over the last 13 years. I have cared for and provided educational support and assistance with kids ranging from 4 to 18 years old, with a particular focus on adolescents.

For the past two years I have worked as a Program Coordinator for an after-school program for high schoool students. I facilitated engaging and interactive workshops on professional and personal development - resume and cover letter building to developing interview and organizational skills. Additionally, we have a strong focus on College Access and Readiness. I work individually and collectively with my students during the entire college application process; from writing personal statements to applying for financial aid. I am currently celebrating many college acceptances with my students and look forward to doing the same with your child!

After an initital phone call (always free) that puts us in partnership, my first step is always starting off our very first session with getting to know my new student. This helps us develop a rapport and allows me a deeper understanding of the individual I am working with. Additionally, I take to hear that not every person learns the same; that everyone needs their own tailored and specific approach.

I will ask my new student their interests and hobbies outside of our planned work together which gives us a foundation to speak in our future sessions.

In regards to the work I am hired to do, I start off with asking my students about their goals for the work / project and what they beleive their strengths and area of improvements are (I never use the term weakness as everything, even what we are not best at, is a place to learn from).

I have worked with students with ranging age from 4 years old to 18 years old.

I have also had the opportunity to work withs students from a range of cultural, racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic status backgrounds. From working class families in the Bronx to affluent families on the Upper West Side, I am able to connect with each student. I pride myself on being able to indiviualize my approach to teaching and tutoring and connect with the student as to who they are and what support they need.

Currently, all of my students from my afterschool program are kids of color, mostly from lower socio-economic backgrounds. My experience with these students, and all of my past students, has enabled me to develop a strong sense of cultural competency - to learn more about each of their backgrounds and what it means to them.

My first piece of advice is ask yourself what your goal of hiring a teacher is. What are you looking for out of this partnership? How can I best support you to reach these goals?

While I may hold the expertise, our partnership is about you and what you need to be successful.

Recently, I have been enjoying celebrating my current student's college acceptances. Nothing brings me more joy or turns around a day quite like seeing the delight and excitement on a young person's face as they tell you they got accepted into a College / University. I can see in them how proud they are of themselves and how they can start to see, in a more tangible way, the next chapter of their lives.

It makes me so proud to be able to share those moments with them. I even do a happy dance - while it embarasses them (yes, even over Zoom) it makes them laugh and they know it is genuine.
