About Ashley
I began teaching by tutoring a friend's young family member in pre-Algebra. I eventualy decided to teach for a living and entered my university's dual STEM/Education degree program, where I created and implemented lesson plans for full classes on the elementary and middle school levels at local schools, while tutoring second chance students at the local second chance program school. As I got furher into my chemistry research, I decided that I would do better fully embracing chemistry and its various applications and help other students understand these underlying concepts as well. I now work for a local tutoring company as a 1-on-1 tutor and an ACT and SAT Math group teacher, and I work for a local community college as a 1-on-1 tutor and resource creator, while also taking private appointments on the side.
I am obtaining my Bachelor of Science in chemistry on May 1st, 2020, and I have a minor in mathematics. I have five years of tutoring experience, most of this being private tutoring. I am currently an ACT Math and SAT math group instructor at local high schools, and I tutor all chemistry classes up to organic chemistry II and the introductory statistics course at TCC, as well as creating resources relating to chemistry concepts for students to use at the college. I also have experiencing tutoring AP Biology and AP Chemistry, as well as hgih school chemistry and math classes. I spent two years majoring in both chemistry and education, but decided I would get more out of majoring in pure chemistry and possibly obtaining a teaching certificate later. During that time, I prepared and taught full lessons to elementary and middle school classrooms, as well as tutored various subjects to second chance students.

The first step in working with new students is identifying strengths and weaknesses within the underlying concepts of the subjects they are studying. The next step is working through problems that involve these concepts and being able to understand what these problems are asking for. The final step is individually identifying the conceptual applications of each problem.
I have worked with elementary-aged students, middle schooled-aged general, advanved and second-chance students, high school-aged general, honors and advanced-placement students, and college students of all levels.
Make sure your teacher is well-rounded. STEM subjects will always pull concepts from other areas one might assume are unrelated. STEM is a blend of many concepts to apply to the real world. It is important to remember that an expert in a subject is not necessarily a good teacher.
I made huge strides in my chemistry research that I carry out as an internship on campus. I am a nuclear chemistry researcher, and I recently synthesized a series of f-block metal-organic ligand coordinated crystals that have not been made before. I am in the process of beginning this scientific research paper to publish in the inorganic chemistry journal "Inorganic Chemistry".
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Always attempt the problem first, and do not be afraid to internet search ways to get started. Think about what concepts you may be lacking in that would help solve the equation. For example, if you are struggling with understanding probability density functions in statistics, perhaps the place to start and making sure you understand the basics of probabilities.
