A little over a year ago I set a goal to begin training for the Golden Gloves. Having been away from the boxing gym for 20+ years as an amateur I had no idea where to start. The traditional gyms I trained in growing up were no longer open, so I began to rely on my old regimen. Shortly after I started training a friend of mine suggested that I integrate a few weekly classes at Title Boxing Club into my regimen. I laughed at the idea of it because I had always thought of those gyms as "gimmicks" or "glorified aerobics" classes. I trained under a really good trainer for the majority of my career and spent several summers training in one of the most prestigious boxing gyms in the country. What could any of the instructors at Title Boxing Club offer me?

I really didn't have much to lose at this point, so I called a Title Boxing Club near me to find out what it was all about. Upon hearing how skeptical I was about the gym, the manager invited me to visit the location before committing to a membership. After visiting the gym I was surprised to learn that several of the instructors actually had real boxing experience. The boxing coach who stood out most to me was Cleveland Hughes. Him and I talked extensively about his boxing experience. Needless to say, I was impressed by him, so I started attending his classes every week. I can't speak for the other trainers, but Cleveland's classes were reminiscent of the training I had received as an amateur boxer. He possesses a wealth of knowledge for the sport that is uncanny for a trainer his age. And not only does he understand the science of boxing, his skill level is extremely high. I have no idea why he chose to coach rather than compete, but he's definitely fulfilling his purpose in life.

In my honest opinion, Cleveland Hughes is one of the best boxing trainers I've had the privilege of working under, and quite possibly the best boxing trainer Chicago has to offer. He's bonafide.

The workouts are always hard but in the best way possible in that you are constantly challenging yourself to grow and to better your well being. He realizes nobody is born knowing how to do things - it takes for someone to teach us. He does it with both patience and confidence in his clientele. He doesn’t expect people to be good at boxing but is here to teach people how to be great boxing. He also knew what I was capable of when I didn’t. His classes are honestly the highlight of my week and has brought me a long way. He definitely puts in the work to help me reach my best potential and I genuinely believe I have a great trainer.

Being a former college athlete I know a great workout/trainer when I see one! Clevelands knowledge of the sport and his passion for fitness put me at ease. His training philosophy to his intensity is one that I've yet to see another trainer match.

I was a member at a ton of boxing gyms, such as title boxing, but decided to leave because no one was teaching me anything. Cleveland takes the time, energy, and effort to teaching people at any stage: beginners, intermediate, and advanced. He pushes you to never stop and is incredibly motivational. It’s because of him I love boxing and wouldn’t do anything else for a workout! Goodbye painful running on the treadmill. He is truly the best!
