About Karishma
I have been a private tutor for over 5 years, specialising in tutoring the 11+ and 13+.
In this time I have tutored many students who have gone on to receive admission at competitive Grammar and Independent schools, such as Watford Grammar School for Girls and Queen Elizabeth Boys School.
Having successfully navigated the 11+ process myself as a young child, I empathise with my students needs and understand the pressures they are under. I intend to teach, but also be a mentor for my students to boost their confidence in their abilities, which is a crucial mindset to have in approaching the exams.

Having attended a leading Grammar school in Hertfordshire and then completed an Oxford Law degree, I am keen to share my passion for KS3 education and my knowledge of the schools admissions process, particularly within the North-West London area.
I understand how demanding the process is and how much commitment it requires from parents and children, therefore I aim to make the process as stressless and seamless as possible.
What subjects do I teach?
I teach comprehension, verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and creative writing for 11+ and 13+ admissions tests.
What is my teaching method?
Naturally, each student learns and processes information differently. Therefore, I adopt a flexible approach based on closely assessing a students weakness and utilising creative teaching methods to make lessons engaging and fruitful.
I believe that regular consolidation and feedback is necessary for real progression, therefore I ensure to maintain communication with parents to ensure that challenging homework and revision sessions compliment my tutoring sessions.
I also have a bank of resources including powerpoints and worksheets that I have built over my years of teaching.
What are your qualifications/ how long have you been tutoring?
I have a Law degree (BA in Jurisprudence) from Oxford and am currently pursuing a Masters in International Law. I have been tutoring for 5 years now.
How early should I start preparing my child for the 11+?
I recommend a year to 18 months preparation in advance of the test with an intensive period of exam practice in the last few months before the exam.
