About Monique
In my tutoring process, I enjoy working with students to figure out what they’re looking for in a tutor, discussing their strengths and struggles, and creating lesson plans that work for them. My style is incredibly flexible and adjusts frequently with the student's needs.
I have a B.A. in Deaf Studies from CSU Northridge with a focus in ASL/English interpreting. Since graduation in 2019 I have been interpreting and tutoring online. I currently have over 130 hours of online tutoring experience!

When meeting with a student for the first time I like to let them have the floor and let me know what they're looking for in a tutor, any strengths and struggles they are experiencing, and how comfortable they are with the language thus far. Throughout our lessons I like the continue to check in with how they feel about the process and if it is best suited to their learning style.
I have worked with students ranging from high school to adults going back to college. Some of my students identify with various learning disabilities, are struggling with the switch to online learning, or need more focused practice outside of the classroom.

Monique has been a phenomenal tutor for me. When I started with her I was getting C's in my interpreting classes and by the end of the same semester I was getting A's! Myself and my professors have both noticed an improvement. Monique really tailors our sessions to my needs. She seems genuinely excited for me when I'm doing good and is extremely supportive when I'm struggling. I always look forward to our sessions. She is really supportive and flexible, I'm never scared to ask any questions!She has been one of the best teachers I have ever had. She is really patient when it comes to lessons and is flexible when it comes to time no matter where you are located. Her tutoring helped me to keep learning even when COVID shut down everything and is still my preferred teacher of learning ASL aside from my professors.

Details
For ASL/English interpreting students my rate is $35/hr because there is a lot of work outside the meeting times that needs to be done in preparation for our feedback sessions.
For ASL language tutoring my rate is $30/hr.
