About Daniel
Theatre is large topic. Sometimes what it takes to bring a student to the next level is a better understanding of scoring a script. For others it's about learning how to speak loudly without shouting. A student should know that I have both an academic background in theatre (BA in Theatre for example), hands on teaching (After School All Stars), and an understanding of the human body (I'm a nurse). While 2 out of 3 might be common, All three is rare.
I love theatre. it is the most collabrative art form in the world. It is also one of the oldest. Theatre is also one of the most flexible. I enjoy watching students find their place within the vast world of theatre. Students change because of theatre.
Not everone want to go off to Hollywood or Broadway. For me I love watching the growth of the person and the performer. Greater self-confidence and better public speaking always makes me smile.

When working with a new student I try to find:
1. what the goal is (just to gain self-confidence or nail an audition etc)
2. I evaluate a student's ablity.
Once I have a good grasp of a students needs and ablities, we will:
1. warm up
2. play theatre games
2. do theatre exercises
3. work on better understand of a script
4. cool down/ I will give "home work"
clearly this is a very flexible list. This is just a basic overview.
This is a wide range. So youngest 13. Oldest 56.
It's a wide range because I can make a program geared towards each person.
A student should understand that most the progress will happen between the lessons. even a 3 hour once a week lesson won't transform a student as much as 10-15 min. a day between classes.
My best advice: come ready to play during our sessions but also work on it during the days we don't meet.
Even if it is a group session in which you don't see you patner outside of our time together there are things you can practice.
I would generally suggest against longer sessions unless it is a small group. If you would like to me to work with 6 or more students, then consider having time with less students.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
All the subjects I work with require a student to ask:
1. what is it I want to improve?
2. what are my weak areas?
3. If the above are not the same, why are they diffrent?
4. Are there any considerations the teacher needs to be aware of? (this could include medical issues or a learning disablity)
5. Do you have other teachers whose topics overlap? (for example singing lessons that teach projection)
6. Is this leading up to something already planned? (for example an audtion or an essay)

Generally speaking acting struggles to be taught online. I do tutor other topics. English lit for example has no issue being virtual. My general pricing is based on in person.
