About Jacob
I am passionate about helping accounting students live up to their academic potential, so that they can maximize their career opportunties at graduation. I offer online tutoring for $30 an hour, and make myself available at all hours to my students via text for questions. I also offer career advice on how to break into land your desired job upon graduation.
I am an accounting professional who has passed all CPA exams, and have over 4 years of experience in the industry. I have worked for PwC, Halliburton, and currently the Siegfried Group. Workiing in accounting has given me the opportunity to travel the world while also making a steady income. I strive to leverage my experience to help students create the life they want for themselves after college.
I enjoy helping students get that "Ah Ha" moment when they are working through problems, that moment when they finally "get it". I love seeing my students succeed in their classes after all of their hard work, and helping them leverage their academic success into career opportunties.
I spent one year working as a teaching assistant for intro to accounting at Indiana University, and tutoring students at office hours. I also worked as a private tutor while I worked towards earning my masters degree. I have a bachelors degree in finance, masters degree in accounting, and over 4 years of real world work experience to draw from to help my students. I have also done recruiting for both PwC and Halliburton. As such, I know what recruiters look for in potential hires and love to offer advice to students looking to break into the accounting industry.

In my experience as TA and tutor, the best way for students to learn is by doing. I like to work through problems with students and understand their thought process. When there is an issue, I like to use real world examples to make concepts easier to understand. My goal is always to make sure my students understand the accounting concepts behind the problems, so that they are ready for any question their professors throw at them.
I understand that students have to study outside of our allocated tutoring sessions, which is why I make myself available via text at all times in case a question comes up.

Pricing is $30 per hour. If you are in the Columbia, SC area, we can meet in person, otherwise all sessions will be online via skype.
