About Jean
The uncertainty of the normal reopening of schools in the fall of 2020 has encouraged me to offer my services as a private tutor, teaching support of home schooling families, and as an early reading specialist.
Retired from academic teaching since 2002, I have nevertheless had extensive head teacher experience in the elementary grades in independent schools beginning in the1970s. My early training formed the basis of my belief in providing a solid foundation of skills then providing resources and guidance for students to develop critical thinking capabilities.
In teaching language skills, I utilize the multisensory priciples developed by Orton-Gillingham to address diverse learning styles.
Tailoring a program to the individual student's needs is the key to establishing a firm learning foundation for that child going forward.
