About Merin
I'm a Development Practitioner and Certified Generative AI Trainer with over 8 years of experience in the non-profit sector, combined with hands-on expertise in AI implementation and training. While my professional background lies in fundraising, grant writing, and program delivery for mission-driven organizations, I have a strong passion for teaching AI to school students, having personally guided more than 50 children in understanding and using AI tools confidently.
My teaching style breaks down complex concepts into simple analogies and relatable, age-appropriate examples, making AI approachable and fun rather than intimidating. I focus on hands-on learning; students don't just hear about AI, they create with it, whether that's writing better prompts, generating images, or exploring how these tools work.
I'm also the author of a 500+ page book featuring 484 practical AI prompts, and I hold a Generative AI Mastermind Certificate along with a Master's degree in Local Governance. My background in research, community engagement, and cross-functional communication helps me connect with students of different ages and skill levels, adapting my teaching to how each child learns best.
I believe every child deserves the chance to understand and use AI meaningfully, not just as consumers of technology, but as curious young creators. My goal is to make every student feel confident, capable, and excited about what they can build with these tools.

My teaching approach breaks down Artificial Intelligence into simple, relatable concepts rather than dense technical jargon. Think of Russian nesting dolls to explain AI, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning, or comparing prompting to directing an actor in a scene.
Each class follows a clear structure: a short concept explanation, a real-world analogy, a live demonstration, and then a hands-on activity where students immediately apply what they've learned. Sessions build progressively, starting with AI foundations and history, moving into the art of prompting (including advanced techniques like negative and reverse prompting), exploring popular tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, and finally getting creative with image, audio, and video generation tools.
What sets my classes apart is the strong emphasis on doing, not just listening. Students walk away from every session having created something: a better prompt, an AI-generated image, a narrated video script. We also dedicate time to AI ethics, encouraging critical thinking about bias, misinformation, and originality.
These classes are designed for complete beginners; no programming knowledge required, just curiosity. Whether you're a student, working professional, or simply AI-curious, you'll leave equipped to use these tools confidently and creatively in daily life, studies, or work.
