About Sophie
I am currently studying to become a secondary school teacher at Strathclyde University. I am hoping tutoring will not only help you improve your grades, but also improve my quality and style of teaching. The best teachers are those who continue learning, reflecting and improving, and I strive to do all three!
I am a kind, patient and compassionate person that likes helping others. This is the reason I am about to follow a career in teaching. I believe that everyone can achieve if they are willing, and it's okay to get a little help.
It wasn't too long ago that I was at school, and I know what it's like to be struggling with a few subjects. My worst subject was Maths. I myself had to seek support from a Maths tutor to bring my grade from a D to a B at Higher. So, from experience, I know how tutoring can improve grades.

Hello, I'm Sophie! I'm currently enrolled in the one-year PGDE teaching course at Strathclyde University, training to become a secondary school teacher in Modern Studies and Geography. I hold a first-class honours degree in Sociology & Social Policy from the University of Stirling, completed in June 2022.
I offer high-quality, useful tutoring sessions of 1-2 hours in Modern Studies, Geography, Sociology, Politics, and everything in-between. I am happy to teach at any level, but I am best suited to teaching National 4, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher in these subjects. I cover Paisley, Renfrewshire, Glasgow and the surrounding areas.
I have taught short lessons to small classes of secondary school students in which I taught blocks of lessons about particular topics over a number of weeks. I have also taught classes at a day centre for adults with learning difficulties (including, but not limited to ASD) every week for 1 year. More informally, I provide friends & family 1-1 help and support with their studies, whether that is at school, college or university level.
I am open and flexible when it comes to teaching styles and I can adapt depending on age and ability. I offer fun and engaging lessons that allow students to excel in their exams. Most importantly, I am kind, helpful and patient with all my students, and I believe in them all.
I do give my students homework (within reason, I know how busy term-time can be!) so that I can track their progress.
