I help students approach the text in 3 ways: 1)expressing their personal experience of reading it; 2) developing a defensible interpretation of it; and 3) seeing how the text relates to or illuminates real world situations. A typical lesson plan would involve my developing questions to lead students into each of these ways of experiencing or understanding a literary text. My lessons are pitched to high school and college level students.
