About Charlotte -Joan
I am a teacher who is supportive of my student's holistic achievement and well-being and while I wanted my students to develop naturally and innately under their own pace, I am also very capable in recognizing their own skills and talents to the work and of what they can offer academically and also holistically. While I set a high standard for my students in terms of their grades and their achievements, I wanted the best for them and I wanted them to succeed whenever challenged arises.
The reason on why I love teaching is because I like to interact and inspire people to be their own better version of themselves. Not only that, I would also like to assist others to be themselves authentically, create a safe space for them , and reach out to be better than what society and others expects them to do and to be.

My techniques are usually 1:1 to small group learning and it is a student-centered learning experience, where I would encourage the students to respond and participate in the lesson actively. Also, I do encourage my students to respond to open-ended questions and I would prepare materials that would help foster their interest towards the subject. If it is a small group learning, I would foster study relationship between each of the students joining the small group learning.
The typical length of my lesson is around 45 minutes. The first 15-20 minutes would be dedicated to tutorial sessions, and the remainder would be students working on the task independently. I would provide some online slides for them to work on and access based on their understanding and skill set of the English language before handing them worksheets at their own level and pace. Most of the time, I would encourage the students to work beyond their capabilities.
As an educator for 10 years, I have worked in several international schools, private schools and kindergartens, particularly The British International School Kuala Lumpur, Sri Bestari Private School Kuala Lumpur and The International (concealed information) Kuala Lumpur, dealing with several students of varied backgrounds and learning needs. I am a certified Apple Teacher and possess a Bachelor in Education (Hons) and a Diploma in Learning Disorder and Child Psychology. Also, I'm currently working in St Joseph International School Petaling Jaya as a special needs educator.
I can cater to multiple subjects which are related to the IGCSE and British syllabus as well as the KSSR/KSSM syllabus, especially English, Bahasa Melayu and Mathematics. I can teach students from age 6 to 15 years old (Standard 1-Standard 6) and (Form 1 to Form 3)
