About Elena
I am passionate about helping students feel seen, supported, and capable of success. I understand that every child learns differently, especially students with autism, behavioral challenges, communication needs, or learning differences. My goal is not only to help students academically, but also to help them build confidence, emotional safety, and independence.
I have experience working in special education settings and currently work as an Instructional Assistant alongside a Speech-Language Pathologist supporting nonverbal students. This experience has strengthened my patience, empathy, and ability to connect with students who may struggle to express themselves or feel understood in traditional learning environments.
I am currently completing my Special Education credential program at National University, where I continue learning evidence-based strategies to better support diverse learners. Families can trust that I approach every student with compassion, professionalism, and genuine care. I believe strong relationships, encouragement, and individualized support can make a lasting difference in a child’s life.

My teaching approach is centered around patience, structure, encouragement, and individualized support. I understand that every student learns differently, especially students with autism, behavioral challenges, communication differences, or learning gaps that may impact their confidence in school. Because of this, I focus on creating a calm and supportive learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow at their own pace.
I use a student-centered teaching style that combines direct instruction, visual supports, guided practice, repetition, and positive reinforcement. I also incorporate social-emotional support into lessons because students learn best when they feel understood and supported. My experience working in special education and alongside a Speech-Language Pathologist supporting nonverbal students has helped me develop strong communication strategies and adaptability when working with diverse learners.
A typical lesson begins with reviewing previously learned skills to build confidence and connection. I then introduce new concepts in small, manageable steps while checking for understanding throughout the lesson. Students are given opportunities for guided practice before moving toward more independent work. I adapt lessons based on each student’s learning style, pace, and emotional needs.
I currently work as an Instructional Assistant while completing my Special Education credential program at National University. My background allows me to support students academically while also understanding behavioral, emotional, and communication needs that may affect learning.
My lessons are ideal for elementary and middle school students, English learners, students receiving special education services, and students who benefit from additional academic structure, emotional support, or personalized instruction. My goal is always to help students build confidence, independence, and a positive relationship with learning.
