About Cosmo
My name is Cosmo. I have been programming for 10+ years and tutoring for 5! I do have some CS education but I consider myself self taught. I have also worked as a software engineer professionally which has provided me with a fantastic range of programming experiences. Whether you are a student, a hobbyist, or a professional, I have relevant insights and experience that I am eager to share with you. I love working with students to empower them with the tools and understanding necessary to achieve their goals. Whatever those goals are, I hope I can make you a better programmer! If you have questions about anything, please feel free to message me.

My teaching method is to focus on "why" questions above all else. Even though the added context of why things are the way they are isn't strictly necessary in order to understand how to solve a large range of problems, my experience is that taking the time to understand this added context can illuminate a lot of otherwise opaque concepts and is a great way to motivate lessons and transition from one topic to another.
A typical lesson plan is usually a 60-90 minute session either remote or in person where we study some prepared material together and we solve some toy problems together that are designed to assess your understanding of the material.
I believe what sets me apart as a tutor is my "guiding hand" approach to teaching. Ideally, I want my lessons to feel like a dialogue where I am subtly guiding you to discovering the solutions to problems for yourself rather than me just telling you how it's done.
My lessons are for anyone who wants to learn programming but I think high school and college students are best served by my teaching methods and experience.
