About Liza
Hello, I'm Liza, a psychology PhD researcher at NTU. My funded doctoral research looks at face-voice correspondence in humans and AI. I hold an MRes in Psychological Research Methods, so I work with the statistics, study design and academic writing that psychology students are assessed on every day.
I know first-hand how demanding university-level psychology can be. I found the workload of my Master's challenging, and I'm proud to have persevered and completed it. That experience shapes how I teach: I'm patient, realistic about deadlines and focused on building your confidence as well as your grades.
My MRes dissertation tested an intervention designed to reduce statistics anxiety and improve performance, so I take student confidence seriously. I'll explain things clearly, never make you feel silly for asking questions, and tailor every session to your course, your assessments and your goals.
I'm reliable, well prepared and committed to working with you ethically. I'll support your learning and help you develop your own ideas, but I won't write your assessed work for you.

I'm a psychology PhD researcher, and I know how overwhelming university-level psychology can feel, especially statistics and research methods. My lessons are relaxed and supportive, and the aim is for you to understand the material, not just memorise it.
How I teach
Start with where you are. In the first session we work out what you find tricky and what your deadlines are, then plan around that.
Break things down. I explain difficult ideas in plain language with real examples, then build up to the technical detail.
Learn by doing. You'll work through practice questions, real study designs and data, so you can apply concepts instead of just reading about them.
Stats without the stress. My MRes research looked at reducing statistics anxiety, so I use friendly, confidence-building approaches. I can also help you get started with R Studio, SPSS and JAMOVI.
Support for writing. I can help with structuring essays, lab reports and dissertations, and with giving your work a critical edge. I won't write anything for you, but I'll help you develop your own voice.
