About Emily
I’m a Primary School Teacher with several years of experience working with children across primary age groups. I’m currently based in London and have been working in schools here through supply teaching since January.
I’ve always enjoyed the parts of teaching that are about one-to-one connection — taking the time to really understand how a child is thinking and helping them work through things in a way that makes sense to them.
The main thing I focus on is helping children feel more confident in themselves as learners, especially in reading and writing, where I know many children can lose confidence quite quickly if they feel stuck.
I try to keep my teaching calm, simple, and supportive, breaking things down step by step so children don’t feel overwhelmed. I also think it’s really important that they feel comfortable making mistakes, because that’s often where the real learning happens.
I’ve chosen to move into tutoring because I enjoy being able to focus more closely on individual students and give them the kind of targeted support that can sometimes be harder to provide in a busy classroom.
Overall, I just want to help children feel more capable, more confident, and more positive about their learning.

I am a fully qualified Primary School Teacher based in London with over 7 years of classroom teaching experience, working with children aged 5 to 13.
I trained and taught in New Zealand for several years before moving to London, where I have continued teaching through supply work since January. This has given me experience in both international and UK classroom settings and a strong understanding of primary education across different curricula and teaching environments.
I specialise in supporting children with reading and writing development, helping them build strong foundations in comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and written expression. I also support KS2 pupils with SATs preparation and building confidence in English.
My teaching approach is calm, structured, and tailored to each child’s individual needs. I focus on identifying gaps in understanding and breaking learning down into simple, achievable steps. My aim is to make learning engaging and supportive so children feel confident and motivated.
Although I am new to tutoring, I bring extensive classroom experience across a wide range of abilities and year groups, allowing me to quickly adapt my teaching style to suit each learner.
