About Lucida
Lucida is a highly enthusiastic and accomplished musician, educator, and pianist. She holds a Masters of Arts in Music Education from the University of Toronto. She earned a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia. With over 15 years of experience teaching piano and music theory to students of all ages and levels, Lucida has positively impacted numerous students' lives. She has successfully prepared her students for the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) practical and theory examinations as well as for local festivals, where they have achieved First Class Honours and obtained top prizes. Additionally, Lucida has extensive experience as a music teacher in International Baccalaureate (IB) schools, showcasing her adaptability and commitment to fostering passion and love for music across diverse settings. Her experience teaching at IB schools has also influenced her to see the value of being inquirers and communicators, which she always encourages her students to be. Beyond teaching, Lucida has gained recognition as a collaborative pianist, playing with various choirs, musicians, as well as for students’ RCM examinations. During her time in Europe, her collaboration with music producers, both as a composer and singer, resulted in signed tracks with record labels such as Blue Soho Recordings. This multifaceted approach to music allows Lucida to continually evolve as an artist. Through a constant pursuit of personal growth as both a musician and educator, Lucida aims to encourage her students to build a sense of ownership over their passion for music. Lucida is fluent in English and Mandarin and is able to communicate in Spanish if necessary.

Having a strong foundation is very important and beneficial when learning the piano regardless of the style of music a student would like to play. That is why Lucida's lessons cover various areas of musicianship, including rhythm, note-reading (depending on the age of the student), ear training, and music theory. Once a solid foundation is build, students may choose to continue with the RCM examination system or to explore other styles. Lucida works with her students to set clear goals and expectations right from the start. Each student's unique personalities, backgrounds, and learning styles are always recognized and considered in order for the lessons to be tailored to their specific needs. Lessons are typically one-hour long. Depending on their attention span, some younger students may benefit from shorter lesson times to start.

Perfect! ucida has a great talent in teaching children. My sons can get good understanding of piano skills and knowledge. She knows very well in motivating children and delivering the specifics in a variety of methods. Lucida’s clad can lead the lesson into relaxed but effective process that children can enjoy while learning. Least but not last, through her excellent flexibility(face to face / online) and detailed follow-ups in teaching, Lucida showed her strong ability to guide children into a more focused way with piano learning.
Perfect! Lucida has been teaching my son Nick for three years. Fantastic piano teacher! Technically very very solid and she has built up a great rapport with him! Would highly recommend!
Perfect! Lessons are super enjoyable and I'm often looking forward to them! She's got great energy (my housemates are jealous that they didn't have as positive music teacher experiences) and she comes up with smart ways to overcome blockages students experience when learning new skills
Perfect! Super engaging, fun, and helpful lessons. Awesome at finding creative exercises and ways to improve specific things. Fantastic teacher!

Lucida is my first piano teacher since I moved and she's been absolutely amazing. She's helped me improve my technical skills, and is supportive with whatever I wanted to do in/get out of our lessons. My piano has improved greatly since we began and I find myself looking forward to every session. She is flexible, supportive, insightful, and I'm very glad I have her as my teacher.
I enjoy having piano lessons with Lucida a lot, she makes piano more interesting and fun. She's a very enthusiastic teacher and always full of energy for class and has a great explanation for every concept.
Here it is:
I think Lucida is a great teacher because she always explain points and answer questions clearly. I enjoy our lesson because because she tries to make lessons fun. She is a nice and very cheerful person. Lucida helped me in music theory, especially in triads, which I always have problems in. I would suggest someone to learn with Lucida because just like I said before, she is very clear with her explaining and is a great person to just be around.Lucida is one of the most musical and talented pianists I’ve ever met. She is wonderfully talented and encouraging while patient and greatly invested in her students. Her lessons are fun but to the point. If you are looking for piano lessons, Lucida is the teacher you want!
