About Matthew
I’m a composer and violist with a PhD in Composition from the Royal Academy of Music in London. My works have been performed internationally, and I’ve spent over ten years teaching students from school to conservatoire level. I love helping others discover their creative voice and deepen their understanding of music — whether through composition, analysis, or instrumental study. Teaching for me is about sharing enthusiasm and curiosity: guiding each student to find meaning, skill, and confidence in their musical journey.

I combine clear explanations with creative exploration, helping students prepare for GCSE, A-Level, IB, or university-level music studies. Lessons can also cover aural training, stylistic techniques, and portfolio development for conservatoire entry. My aim is to make each session engaging, structured, and enjoyable, building confidence and deep musical understanding. Whether you’re pursuing exams or learning for pleasure, you’ll gain tools to think, listen, and create like a musician.
