About Wesley

My name is Wesley, and I am a New York City–based actor, playwright, and director with professional experience across stage and new work development. I am a member of Actors’ Equity Association and the Dramatists Guild, and I have performed in productions across the United States and internationally, as well as had my writing presented in readings and productions at regional theaters. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from Montclair State University.

As a performer, I understand the demands of auditions, rehearsals, and long-term artistic growth. As a playwright, I bring a deep understanding of text, structure, and character to my teaching. This dual perspective allows me to help actors approach their work with clarity, confidence, and purpose—whether they are preparing a scene, an audition, or building a sustainable craft. I take my role as a tutor seriously and approach each student with professionalism, preparation, and respect.

My goal is to create a focused, supportive environment where actors feel challenged, encouraged, and equipped with practical tools they can rely on. I tailor my coaching to each individual’s experience level and goals, always prioritizing clear communication and honest, constructive feedback. I am passionate about helping actors do grounded, truthful work and about demystifying the process so students leave sessions feeling more confident, prepared, and empowered in their craft.

I’m Wesley, a working actor, playwright, and director based in New York City. My approach to teaching acting is rooted in text, intention, and truthful behavior, not tricks or shortcuts. I help actors understand why a moment works, not just how to perform it, so the work remains consistent in auditions, rehearsals, and performances.

TEACHING METHOD & TECHNIQUES
My coaching is highly text-driven and actor-specific. We begin by breaking down the script—language, structure, stakes, and relationships—then build physical and emotional choices that grow organically from that analysis. I focus on:
- Scene study and audition technique
- Objective-based acting and playable actions
- Emotional truth without self-indulgence
- Clear storytelling and confident presence in the room
Because I’m also a playwright, I bring a writer’s eye to the work. I help actors understand how scenes are designed to function, which gives them a real advantage in auditions and cold readings.

A TYPICAL LESSON
A standard session begins with a short check-in to clarify goals (audition, class scene, self-tape, or long-term craft work). From there, we:
- Analyze the text together and clarify the character’s objective and obstacles
- Put the scene on its feet, exploring multiple playable choices - Refine moments for clarity, specificity, and emotional honesty
- End with concrete notes and tools the actor can take into future work
Lessons are practical, focused, and adapted in real time to what the actor needs most.

WHAT SETS ME APART
What distinguishes my coaching is the combination of professional acting experience and produced playwriting work. I don’t teach acting in a vacuum—I coach from inside the realities of auditions, rehearsal rooms, and new play development. My goal is not to mold actors into one style, but to help them develop a repeatable, reliable process they can trust under pressure. I also prioritize creating a supportive, respectful environment where actors feel safe to take risks and do their best work.

WHO THESE LESSONS ARE FOR:
My lessons are best suited for:
- High school, college, and conservatory-trained actors
- Early-career and professional performers
- Actors preparing for auditions, callbacks, or readings
- Playwrights or directors seeking help with performance technique
Whether you’re just starting to take acting seriously or refining your craft at a professional level, I tailor each lesson to your experience, goals, and voice as an artist.
