About Sarahjane
Maths has been a lifelong love of mine, ever since I was young. I found it easy at school, perhaps too easy, and I often wished I’d been pushed harder and challenged more, especially looking back at how much of a step up university maths turned out to be. That gap is part of what drives me as a teacher: I want to make sure my students are genuinely stretched, not just kept comfortable.
For me, maths has always been about puzzles. I love that feeling of being properly stuck and the real joy that comes once you work your way through it. That’s the experience I try to give my students: not just handing them the answer, but helping them build the resilience and problem-solving instinct to get there themselves. It’s that “click” moment I love watching most, and it’s why I became a teacher in the first place.

As an experienced maths teacher and Head of Department with 16 years’ teaching experience, I have a proven track record of helping students exceed their potential in maths. Whether that means building confidence from the ground up, preparing students for competitive scholarship exams at top independent schools, or guiding them through GCSEs, I bring a calm, purposeful approach tailored to each student’s needs.

SarahJane tutored my son leading into his GCSEs. She was extremely helpful in breaking things down and supporting his understanding of the subject at a time when he had some catching up to do.
