About Mathieu
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Art History and have spent more than a decade working with students in both classroom and one-on-one settings. During that time, I have helped students overcome math anxiety, improve grades, prepare for high-stakes examinations, and gain admission to colleges and universities.
As a professional educator, I understand the importance of reliability, preparation, and clear communication. I arrive prepared for every lesson, tailor instruction to each student's needs, and provide additional resources to support learning between sessions. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, so I strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where genuine understanding can develop.

I am a mathematics teacher and tutor with more than 10 years of experience helping students build confidence, improve grades, and achieve their academic goals. I specialize in all levels of mathematics: elementary and middle school math through Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Precalculus, Calculus, Statistics, and college-level coursework. I also specialize in standardized test preparation including the ACT, SAT, GRE, and other exams.
My teaching philosophy is simple: every student can learn math when it is framed in the right way. Rather than relying on memorization alone, I focus on helping students understand the underlying concepts so they can solve problems independently and apply their knowledge in new situations.
A typical lesson begins with identifying the student's goals and current challenges. We then work through examples together, practice problems of increasing difficulty, and strategies for approaching unfamiliar questions. I regularly check for understanding throughout the lesson and adjust my explanations to match the student's learning style.
What sets me apart is my combination of classroom teaching experience, one-on-one tutoring experience, and strong mathematical background. I create and provide customized study guides, practice problems, reference sheets, and other resources at no additional cost. My goal is not just to help students succeed during our sessions, but to give them tools they can continue using afterward.
Lessons are available for students of all ages and ability levels, including middle school, high school, college, adult learners, homeschool students, and those preparing for standardized tests.
