My teaching approach: I am Ojonugwa and I believe that history, social studies, and current affairs are not just subjects to be memorized. They are living stories that shape the world we live in today. My teaching approach connects past events to present realities, helping students understand not just what happened, but why it matters and how it affects their daily lives. Every lesson is delivered in clear, simple language that makes complex topics easy to grasp, whether you are a complete beginner or preparing for an important examination.
Typical lesson plan: My lessons are structured but flexible designed to maximize understanding and retention:
1. Opening(5-10 mins):I like to begin my classes with a quick review of previous lessons and a brief discussion of a current news headline related to our topic, I do that to connect learning to real world examples.
2. Main teaching(20-25 mins): I introduce the new lesson with real-life examples, timelines, and visual aids where needed. I also endeavor to break down difficult concepts into digestible steps.
3. Discussion & Analysis.
4. Summary & Assessment.
5. Homework/Follow-up.
What makes me different as a tutor is my ability to make History, Social studies, current affairs and even Religious Studies genuinely interesting and relevant. Many students struggle with these subjects because they feel disconnected from events that happened long ago or in faraway places. I bridge that gap by:
1. Linking historical events directly to modern-day situations that my students can relate to.
2. Drawing on years of classroom teaching experience to anticipate exactly where students get confused and so I address these areas proactively.
3. Using real newspaper headlines, documentaries, and case studies to make lessons dynamic.
My lessons are not just about making students to pass text, they are about producing informed, aware and confident young people who understand the world around them.
Target Audience:
1. High School students
2. International students at any level who want to improve their understanding of world history and global current affairs.
3. Adult learners who want to stay informed and deepen their knowledge of historical and contemporary world events.
4. Students preparing for competitive exams that includes general knowledge, current affairs, or social science components.
5. Anyone who is simply curious about the world and wants to understand how we got here.
