About Serena
I am currently pursuing a PhD in History of Art at the University of Cambridge. I previously graduated from the University of St Andrews with a First-Class MA (Hons) in Art History, where I served as School President in my final year. I then completed a master’s degree at Cambridge and was subsequently awarded full PhD funding offers from both Oxford and Cambridge. I am delighted to be continuing my academic journey in Cambridge.
Alongside this strong academic foundation, I bring extensive teaching experience. Although my research focuses on the Florentine Renaissance, I have taught widely across periods and geographies—from contemporary Chinese art to Gaudí’s architecture in Barcelona. Whatever the subject, I approach the History of Art with energy, clarity, and enthusiasm, and I greatly enjoy sharing that passion with students.
I firmly believe that, with thoughtful guidance, encouragement, and focused preparation, students can develop the confidence and skills needed to excel. My aim is not only to strengthen subject knowledge, but to empower each student to realise their full academic potential.

I offer extensive teaching experience in the field of History of Art, having worked with students across a wide range of topics, methodologies, and historical periods.
I have supervised undergraduates at the University of Cambridge and provided specialist admissions coaching for Oxbridge interviews in a range of humanities subjects and entrance examinations. This experience has equipped me with a strong understanding of what examiners and interview panels look for, enabling me to guide students with clarity, precision, and confidence through these highly competitive processes.
Alongside this, I am experienced in detailed essay review and feedback. I work closely with students to identify areas for improvement, strengthen argumentation, refine structure, and develop critical thinking skills—supporting them to excel in both school and university-level study.
I have also tutored students aged 12 and above in introductory courses in History of Art and Architecture, fostering analytical skills and visual literacy from an early stage.
All sessions are one hour in length and are carefully tailored to each student’s individual goals, timeframe, and learning style. My approach is supportive, structured, and adaptable, ensuring that every student develops both confidence and academic independence.
