About Alex
I have 8 years of experience teaching ESOL (Cambridge, Trinity, IELTS etc.) in a number of countries and Spanish as a second language, KS1 - 5 and University/College. Check me out on (concealed information)
Since 2009 I have worked abroad teaching English to non-native speakers at language and state schools, in-company and on-line, covering all ages, levels and abilities in Spain, Ukraine and Italy.
These mixed nationality students have given me the opportunity to develop my skills and learn new approaches. Besides designing and delivering my own courses, I have a taught all levels of Cambridge ESOL (business incl.), IELTS, Trinity and Spanish Official language school frameworks in addition to a number of ESP courses. Placement testing and assessment were part and parcel of the job and have frequently invigilated exams.
One fundamental common approach I have applied among others is to adapt my lessons and courses to students’ needs, interests and abilities thus enabling them not only to improve but feel more confident and independent. Essential to tailoring are thinking “out of the box” and creativity, not only in class but at course development stage.
Being a bilingual English - Spanish speaker, my teacher training has enabled me to design and teach a number of Spanish courses to upper intermediate level, GCSE & A level.
I have a degree in Business Economics and am also qualified by the University of Cambridge - CELTA and CertED.
