English Lesson Plan Greetings & Introductions Level: Beginner (Primary School to Adults) Duration: 45 minutes Objective: Students will be able to greet others and introduce themselves using basic phrases. Target Vocabulary: Hello / Hi Good morning / Good afternoon / Good evening How are you? / I’m fine, thank you. My name is… / I am… Nice to meet you. Materials Needed: Flashcards with greetings Whiteboard or paper and markers Printable dialogue sheet (optional) Name tags or stickers (for kids) Lesson Procedure: 1. Warm-Up (5 minutes) Greet the student(s): “Hello! How are you?” Show flashcards or write greetings on the board. Have students repeat each greeting after you. 2. Presentation (10 minutes) Teach the basic phrases one at a time: “Hello / Hi” “My name is ___” “Nice to meet you” Write them on the board or show flashcards. Use your own name as an example. 3. Practice (15 minutes) Speaking practice: Go around and have each student say: “Hello, my name is ___.” Pair work / Role-play: Partner students (or take turns with them): A: “Hello!” B: “Hi! My name is ___.” A: “Nice to meet you!” 4. Game or Activity (10 minutes) Kids: Name Tag Game – Hand out blank tags, they write names and walk around greeting each other. Adults: Mix-and-mingle – Students walk around introducing themselves in pairs. 5. Review & Wrap-Up (5 minutes) Review key phrases: “What do we say when we meet someone?” Ask: “What is your name?” (student answers) Praise effort and participation! Optional Homework: Write 3 sentences about yourself: “Hello.” “My name is ___.” “I am ___ years old.”
