About Michelle

Hello! I’m Michelle, an experienced English teacher with over eight years of classroom experience, including AP Literature, AP Language, British Literature, and Creative Writing. I hold advanced degrees in English, Education, and Curriculum & Instruction, and I’m currently pursuing an MFA in Creative Writing to continue refining my craft. My approach to teaching is both structured and supportive. I believe students learn best when lessons are engaging, goals are clear, and progress feels attainable. Whether we’re focusing on grammar, essay writing, literary analysis, or creative expression, I tailor each session to the student’s individual strengths and needs. As both a teacher and department chair, I’ve helped hundreds of students improve their writing confidence, academic performance, and appreciation for literature. My goal is to make English less intimidating and more empowering—helping students not only master skills but also enjoy the process. If you’re ready to grow as a writer and thinker, I’d love to help you get there!

As a seasoned high school English teacher and AP Literature/Language instructor, my approach centers on making language both accessible and engaging. I believe every student can grow as a reader and writer with the right guidance, structure, and encouragement. My lessons blend direct instruction, hands-on practice, and individualized feedback so that students not only learn what to do, but why it matters.

I use a student-centered approach that combines modeling, discussion, and targeted skill-building. Lessons often include guided practice, analysis of mentor texts, and strategies that strengthen grammar, writing structure, and voice. I also integrate creative and real-world writing opportunities to help students see the value of what they’re learning beyond the classroom.

Each session begins with a clear objective, such as improving thesis statements, mastering punctuation, or crafting vivid descriptions. We’ll review examples together, practice the skill through writing or analysis, and end with reflection or revision. I provide personalized feedback and concrete next steps after every session to ensure consistent growth.

With over eight years of experience teaching English at multiple grade levels, I bring both classroom expertise and creativity to every lesson. My background in AP instruction and creative writing allows me to adapt to each learner’s goals, whether that’s boosting essay scores, building grammar confidence, or refining storytelling craft. My students often say my lessons make writing feel less intimidating and more rewarding.

My lessons are ideal for middle school through college-level students seeking support in:

-Grammar, sentence structure, and academic writing

-Creative and narrative writing

-Literary analysis and reading comprehension

-AP English, SAT/ACT, or college essay preparation

Whether you’re polishing your writing for exams or exploring your creative voice, I’ll meet you where you are and help you grow from there
