About Laura
Hi! I’m Laura, a certified elementary teacher with more than 10 years of experience helping children learn, grow, and become confident learners.
I hold a Master’s degree in Education as well as TESOL and TEFL certifications. My experience includes teaching in elementary classrooms and working with children online. I specialize in early literacy, including phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, reading fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.
I believe children learn best when they feel comfortable, encouraged, and successful. I’m patient, positive, and experienced in adapting instruction to meet each child at their individual level.
Whether your child is just beginning to learn how to read, needs help strengthening foundational skills, or would benefit from additional reading practice, I provide personalized instruction designed to meet their specific needs.
My goal is not only to help children become stronger readers, but to help them become more confident, independent learners who feel proud of their progress.

I make reading lessons engaging, encouraging, and personalized to each child’s individual needs. My goal is to help young learners build strong foundational reading skills while developing confidence and a positive relationship with reading.
For K–2 students, lessons may include:
• Phonemic awareness
• Phonics and decoding
• Sight words
• Reading fluency
• Vocabulary
• Reading comprehension
• Early writing and language skills
I use an interactive, Science of Reading–aligned approach and adjust instruction based on each child’s current skills, needs, and progress.
Lessons are appropriate for beginning readers as well as children who need additional support strengthening their reading skills. I identify areas that need attention and provide targeted instruction and practice to help children build the skills they need for greater reading independence.
I also welcome ESL/ELL students who are developing their English and literacy skills. My TESOL and TEFL training allows me to support children who are learning to read while also developing their English language skills.
Most importantly, I want children to feel comfortable participating, making mistakes, trying new skills, and celebrating their progress. Every lesson is personalized so your child receives the right balance of support and challenge.

The complimentary first lesson is an opportunity for us to get to know your child, discuss your goals, and learn more about their current reading skills. I’ll use age-appropriate activities to identify strengths and areas that may need additional support, then use that information to create an individualized plan for future lessons.
The first lesson is relaxed and encouraging—my goal is for your child to feel comfortable, successful, and excited about learning.
