About Kirk
About Me
I’m Kirk Barley (aka Church Andrews), a Yorkshire-born composer and sound artist with over 13 years of experience in releasing and performing music.
* As Kirk Barley, I create organic, textural works from processed studio and field recordings.
* As Church Andrews, I produce synthetic, beat-driven music using digital synthesis and algorithmic techniques.
* Influenced by Jazz, Minimalism, Techno, and Hip-Hop, I experiment with time signatures, temporals, and tuning systems to craft my sound.
I’ve performed across the UK, Europe, and Canada, supporting artists like Andy Stott, Beatrice Dillon, MF DOOM, Madlib, Jon Hopkins, and Pole. I’ve collaborated with Jehst, King Kashmere, Matthew Davies, and Segilola, and released music on labels such as Accidental, Brownswood, Odda, 33-33, and my own imprint, Health.
Teaching is an opportunity for me to share what I’ve learned and help others unlock their creative potential. I love exploring new ideas and approaches with students, and I find it deeply rewarding to see them grow and achieve their goals.
