About Lekshmi
I’m a researcher and educator based in Dunedin, with a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Otago and over a decade of teaching experience across India and New Zealand. My background spans chemistry, physics, and the math that underpins both, and I’ve spent years helping students at every level find their footing.
Teaching is the part of my work I’ve always loved most. There’s a particular moment when a student who’s been struggling suddenly gets it, when a concept clicks and their whole posture changes. That moment is why I do this. I find real satisfaction in taking something that feels intimidating and breaking it down until it feels obvious.
I also know what it’s like to find these subjects hard. Math, physics, and chemistry aren’t about being naturally gifted; they’re about building understanding step by step, with the right guidance. I want to be that guide for my students, and to show them that these subjects are far more approachable, and far more interesting, than they often seem.

I have over a decade of university teaching experience across India and New Zealand, plus a recently completed PhD in computational materials science from the University of Otago. I've taught everything from primary school fundamentals to advanced research topics, so I know how to meet you wherever you are.
My lessons are built around understanding, not memorising. I find out what you already know, then build from there using plenty of real-world examples and analogies, because concepts stick far better when you can picture them. My aim is for you to leave each lesson thinking "oh, that actually makes sense now."
I teach maths, physics, chemistry, and related subjects from middle school through to undergraduate engineering. My style is patient, encouraging, and honest. I'll tell you what's working and what needs more practice, and I'll tailor each lesson to your pace and goals. I also provide worksheets and course content where possible.
