About Shayna
Hi! My name is Shayna, and I have been dancing since I was 4 years old. Dance has always been one of the biggest parts of my life, and I love sharing that passion with others through teaching and mentoring dancers of all ages and experience levels.
I trained at the Denver School of the Arts in middle school, where I received focused dance training in multiple styles and built a strong technical foundation. I also danced for four years on the varsity dance team at Cherokee Trail High School, a state-winning and nationally ranked program. Through these experiences, I developed not only technical skills, but also discipline, teamwork, leadership, and confidence as a performer.
In addition to dance, I am currently a broadcast journalism student at the University of Oklahoma. Being involved in both academics and dance has helped me become organized, hardworking, and a strong communicator, which are qualities I bring into every lesson.
I teach jazz, pom, game day, hip-hop, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, technique training, and some tumbling. My goal as an instructor is to help dancers improve while making lessons encouraging, challenging, and fun. I understand that every dancer learns differently, so I work hard to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable growing and pushing themselves.
Whether a dancer is just beginning or preparing for auditions, competitions, or school dance teams, I want every student to leave lessons feeling more confident in both their skills and themselves.

I strive to create a positive, motivating environment where dancers feel confident while still being pushed to improve. My teaching style focuses on strong technique, performance quality, confidence, and helping each dancer grow at their own pace. I combine corrections and discipline with encouragement so dancers stay challenged without feeling discouraged. Because of my competitive dance and team background, I also emphasize teamwork, musicality, sharpness, stamina, and performance skills that translate well to auditions, school teams, studio dance, and game day performances.
A typical lesson usually starts with a warm-up and stretching, followed by technique work such as turns, leaps, flexibility, conditioning, and across-the-floor combinations. From there, I teach choreography or focus on specific skills the dancer wants to improve, whether that’s pom motions, jazz technique, hip-hop performance, ballet basics, lyrical/contemporary expression, or tumbling fundamentals. I always make sure dancers leave feeling accomplished and with clear corrections and goals to work on.
What sets me apart is my combination of technical training and real competitive team experience. I have been dancing since I was 4 years old, attended the Denver School of the Arts for dance in middle school, and danced all four years on the varsity team at Cherokee Trail High School, a state-winning and nationally ranked dance team. My experience allows me to help dancers not only improve technically, but also develop confidence, performance ability, and the precision required for competitive dance and school dance teams.
Lessons are great for dancers from beginner to advanced, including young dancers just starting out, studio dancers seeking extra technique training, students preparing for dance team auditions, pom or game-day dancers, and dancers looking to improve flexibility, performance quality, or confidence.
