About Jack
I am an experienced classroom teaching assistant and seminar tutor with a passion for reading and teaching English literature. I have studied English literature for over a decade and hold three degrees in the subject. My literary interests are vast, spanning from Shakespeare to Victorian and contemporary poetry, novels and theatre. I am equally interested in film and philosophy and I'm always keen to demonstrate how literature intersects with and informs our understanding and appreciation of all walks of life.

I offer tailored lessons that fit the requirements of each student. I possess experience teaching the set texts for the main GCSE and A-level exam boards and can therefore provide specialised lessons. I offer help with writing longer essays and exam essays, as well as making students feel more confident in their ability to approach literary texts. My lessons are interactive and my teaching approach is relaxed and thoughtful. I stage regular, stress-free recaps of topics covered in previous lessons to confirm that optimal progress is being made. My goal as a tutor is to ensure that students always feel confident in applying what they learn in their lessons in a school or exam environment.
