Our son has started GCSE classics with Mrs Tyrell. She has been very knowledgeable and personable. Our son enjoys her lessons immensely. Her feedback is very good at helping him to improve his exam technique and to gain more marks

Our son's school stopped offering Classical Civilisation as an option that would be taught for GCSE, so he made the decision that he wanted to undertake the study independently. He started self studying in February 2026, but it was always evident that he would need teaching support, as the textbook only gives a certain amount of detail, and obviously does not teach techniques in how to answer questions and analyse sources.

In May 2026 Max started online sessions with Lizzie, and his development in the subject has just grown exponentially. His aim is to take the GSCE exams in the summer 2027 - Myth and Religion (Paper 1) and the Homeric World (Paper 2) - so has been working hard with Lizzie's support to get through all the material (now on topic 7 of 8 for Paper 1 - August 2026).

We really could not recommend Lizzie enough - her tutoring has been absolutely invaluable, and her knowledge and skill at teaching the content have only strengthened Max's commitment - and love of the subject.
