About Dawn
I am an enthusiastic and highly experienced CELTA qualified ESOL tutor. Having learnt four languages myself, and having worked abroad for many years, I am able to respond to the learners’ needs with real empathy.
My time in the business world has honed my communication skills, adaptability, and understanding of the importance of effective language in achieving success.
A particular career highlight for me, was when my teaching was identified as Effective Practice in Workplace ESOL in a study commissioned by Learning Connections on behalf of the Scottish Government.

My teaching is student centred. I work with my students to establish clear, achievable language learning goals, which are relevant to their needs e.g., everyday communication, academic success, career progression. The focus is on building on prior knowledge, promoting independent learning, and staying attuned to the diverse needs of learners.
My teaching methods are adapted to meet individual learning styles.Each lesson is structured with clearly defined learning outcomes. I encourage real-life language use through interactive activities. When teaching grammar, I focus on using it in context, ensuring that learners are confident using a range of grammatical structures.
As well as Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening skills, I teach:

• Business English
• Academic English
• OET
• Exam Preparation
