About Vie
I am a working artist, academic, writer, and cultural theorist with a strong background in visual culture, critical theory, and interdisciplinary research. My work focuses on how images, symbols, and cultural movements reflect broader historical and social forces using mythology, politics, and popular culture to contextualize artworks and art movements.
As a tutor, I prioritize clarity, curiosity, and close looking. I aim to help students feel confident analyzing artworks, understanding historical context, and articulating their ideas clearly in writing and discussion. My goal is to help students succeed academically and help clients develop lasting skills in observation, interpretation, and critical thinking.
I work with high school and university students as well as adult learners who want to deepen their understanding of art history and visual culture. I also work with artists to develop creative strategies that progress their practice and career.
I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where questions are encouraged and complex ideas become accessible.

I love art and art history! My teaching focuses on helping students learn how to really see and interpret works of art. Rather than memorizing dates (since that's the easy part), I guide students through visual analysis and the historical, cultural, and political contexts that shape artistic production. Students learn how to identify symbolism, understand artistic movements, and develop strong critical thinking and writing skills.
A typical lesson includes close analysis of artworks, discussion of historical context, and support with coursework, exams, or essays. Lessons are tailored to each student’s goals and level.
What sets my tutoring apart is an interdisciplinary approach that connects art history with mythology, literature, and popular culture. This helps students understand visual culture as something dynamic and deeply connected to the world around them.
Lessons are suitable for high school and university students, as well as adult learners interested in developing a deeper understanding of art and visual culture.
