About Crystal
I live in beautiful Aurora, Colorado, where I get to see the Rocky Mountains every day. I've spent the last 15 years pursuing my own education, with a Bachelor's degree in education, a Master's degree in literacy, and am currently in the final stages of writing my dissertation for a PhD in Education. I have taught middle and high school for the past 12 years, and there is nothing that brings me greater joy than teaching and learning.
I have two feisty dachshunds and a little one-eyed cat who are my constant companions. When I'm not working, I enjoy singing, cooking, and hiking!

As a PhD candidate, I have many years of personal experience writing my own high-quality academic papers and essays. I bring that perspective, along with over 10 years' experience working as a writing tutor, and 12 years' experience as a middle and high school teacher to my tutoring sessions.

A typical lesson is structured as follows:
1. Identify the writing assignment, criteria, and resources.
2. Develop a plan for how to accomplish the writing task - broken down into attainable chunks.
3. Develop an outline.
4. Independent short writing bursts with frequent check-ins to determine if you're on the right track.
