About Amy
As a curious and creative human, I came to the teaching profession with a wide range of life experiences and with intention. It is my belief that teachers are mentors and educational guides who encourage young minds to realize their valuable potential and to explore and inspire the world around them.
I am friendly, honest, organized and efficient but above all, I treat people the same way I would like to be treated; with compassion and respect. I have a great appreciation for music, am passionate about self expression through creativity, and I love to explore and photograph the nooks and crannies of the world. I also enjoy reading and films, riding my bike, learning to play my acoustic guitar, and cooking and eating delicious food
Teaching and learning are not what I do rather how I chose to evolve, and how I chose to meaningfully contribute to a world
outside of myself. I am excited at the opportunity to facilitate a student-centered learning approach for students of all ages and levels!

Learning is an individual process and as such, my teaching approach starts with relationship building. I really need to get to know each student in order to understand their learning needs, styles, and propensities: what their likes, dislikes, challenges and goals, short-term and long term.
By understanding them as an individual, I can adapt my praxis and meet them where they are at while offering opportunities to engage with learning to develop foundational skills authentically.
Learning projects, activities, and assessments are incremental and centered around cultivating creativity. Students can present their learning in whatever form they choose as long as they meet the learning goals and criteria that emphasize the skills and concepts being explored.
Teaching and learning are dynamic processes. I believe that an organic approach is a valuable method to supporting and encouraging student success in all avenues of learning.
This is the style of teaching and educational philosophy I really responded to as a learner in both my high school and university learning journeys (20 years apart!) I am thankful for the wonderful teachers who realized that and paved the way for me all the way into my teaching career.
