About Panagiota
I am a Native Greek speaker and have a Bachelor's degree in Education. I am working as classic philosophy teacher(teaching ancient Greek and Latin) in the high school.
As far as tutoring Greek is concerned, I have long experience in a variety of students' ages and levels, the speed they acquire the language, the different ways they learn. I have worked with absolute beginners and intermediate level students, students that work towards getting degrees in Greek. I am a trained educator, specialized in 1-to-1 lessons online, making use of online platforms, and bringing the classroom experience through the internet.

For students aiming at getting their degree in Ancient Greek, I have extensive knowledge of the syllabus and the books that might be required in order to succeed in a degree, and I am always using real references, articles, literature, make use of translation where needed, in order to grasp the idea of the Greek language, and not just understanding the grammar, spelling, and syntax.
I plan carefully for each of my students. All the materials (grammar, vocabulary, speaking and writing practice) are tailored around each student's needs and their goals. Starting from getting a good understanding of the phonetics and the Greek alphabet, using short, fun games like bingo and flashcards, the language lessons are taken from the strict structures of textbooks and presented in a more approachable way.
The students don't need to buy any books, as I provide detailed PowerPoint presentations, with audio recordings of texts and expressions, making studying as smooth as a learning process can be. Every week the student is given a homework sheet that is structured based on the material covered after each lesson and fitted to the needs of the student. If an exercise doesn't work for the student, I'm more than happy to change it, find the perfect way to be interesting and educative. I tend to avoid repetitive grammar and spelling exercises, as I believe that learning a language is not only about remembering by heart a list of rules. It can come organically through text, gradually getting more challenging as the student advances.
I am adaptable to my students' needs and pacing and respect their needs. I am willing to modify the lessons to fit their needs and goals and am often inspired by their own ideas in regard to the lesson, the flow, and material. Feedback is always welcome and much needed, as I am not an educator that will push my ideals to the student. I believe in communication and am glad to discuss alternative teaching methods. The spine of the lessons might be similar, but the presentation of the points to be covered can be adapted, formed to suit each student, taking into account how busy they are, what their goals and expectations are from the lessons, where they want to be in the future.
