About Silene
I am a teacher at Harmony Public Schools. I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Science Major: Interdisciplinary studies. I have been tutoring for 12 years, one-on-one and whole group. I have taught all elementary subjects and ESL. I also have taught a full year Reading, writing, and Language in ESL for high-school.

I have many major points in teaching. As Obama would say “when you teach, teach with passion and creativity”, those would be my two strongest attributes. I strongly believe that is what I bring to the classroom. It is so important to exercise the mind, body and soul. I will build a broad horizon of nurture and importance like a cocoon, and then he or she will merge their wings and fly into the sky of knowledge. I want to establish a strong educational spark in the mind, body and soul. In order for me to achieve that in the classroom and make progress is to be so involved with each and every child. Children tend to focus more and learn at higher standards when the classroom management t is at its best. They are young children who are learning and developing. They will begin their first day as just a seed then slowly grow into healthy functional, knowledgeable student. I am always looking to improve my skills and the knowledge that I feel works best with each and every child. It takes time, work, and efforts to bring them to a standpoint were teaching them becomes a passion of mine. Technology works best as well as hands on learning. For instance when my kindergarten class began learning time, it became efficient that using practice clocks helped them get a better understanding. As they move the big hand and little hand it gave them more involvement and it was successful. I observe other teachers in the school I work in, so that it helps me develop new skills and strategies that I find efficient and triumphant. Teachers learn new things everyday and the smallest can make an extreme difference. Instruction and dedication is what I bring to the table. My classroom is a learning environment where every child will reach for the stars and be positive and successful. I am existing to glorify these students with my skills. I believe that is my main reason for being a teacher, and making a difference every day. I do see that students cannot sit for seven hours straight and just looking at a piece of paper and listening to one adult. small group works best and one-on-one. I think kids need to be comfortable in the class, to choose seats or even if they wanted to kick of their shoes and feel good. When students are comfortable and happy their Ora becomes relaxed and ready to learn. I realized when I gave a test orally one-on-one my students did a better job. Many kids need that support that is why I did tutoring for so long and it became successful.
