About Krista

With a background rooted in Southern California (Orange County), my educational journey began by nurturing young minds in daycare settings. This passion for fostering potential led me to pursue a B.A. in Theatre and English at California State University, Fullerton. Following my heart north, I earned my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with a specialization in Special Education at Humboldt State University in the scenic surrounds of Humboldt County. My teaching career commenced in Asheville, North Carolina, where I embraced the diversity of a K-12 English classroom, encountering students with a wide range of talents and challenges, including behavioral issues. Driven to further empower youth, after that I transitioned to Phoenix Outdoor, a camp designed to help teenagers overcome emotional obstacles. On my return to California after some years, I honed my expertise in early literacy through personalized tutoring, onboarding cutting edge methods for beginning readers. Beyond academics, I nurtured a love for travel, explored the world of creative writing, and delved into videography. Currently, I'm passionate about developing a comprehensive emotional literacy curriculum for schools and crafting an innovative learning program inspired by Mr. Rogers, designed to accelerate dynamic learning in a home environment. I'm confident my multifaceted experience and unwavering dedication to education make me a valuable asset to your students. I look forward to connecting further!

Hi! I can teach ANY grade up to High School grads! My favorite teaching methods is interest based personalized learning with Gamification! HAVING FUN is important while really helping students learn through exploring what they are interested in. I also really believe in having a BROAD understanding of the world. I love a good sandwich of subjects, but I can focus on any you prefer for your learning goals. My best subjects are; History, Science, English, Music, Health, Social Skills, Dance, Reading, Writing, Geography, Video Production, Music Production, Compassionate Communication, Wellness, basic Piano, Guitar, and Current Events. I enjoy helping students find historic or science pockets that they are extremely fascinated by and expanding on that to build frameworks of sophisticated comprehension. I love making songs for learning and memorization. I am developing a curriculum for accelerated homeschool learning, a kids show I am trying to make next year. I can teach you how to write your own musical and help you with it! I can teach you really fun methods of Dance. I can help you feel comfortable singing! I have a background in music with years of experience and have studied with extremely well regarded teachers! I can share their methods. I would love to help you feel excited about your days! For example, we could cook a meal from a historic period, learn the accent, and pretend to have an illness of the time period and research how they would have fixed it. My ideal student group may be a group of 5-6 home schoolers that know each other.

A bit more about my methods. I utilize:

Personalized Learning: This approach tailors instruction to individual student interests, learning styles, and needs. It emphasizes student agency and allows them to explore topics that pique their curiosity within a set curriculum framework.

Gamification: I incorporate game-like elements and music into the learning process. This fosters engagement, motivation, and a sense of accomplishment as students progress through the material.

I love it when students take ownership of their learning and like to give them choices in how they approach the material, while challenging them with various methods for them to prove their comprehension.

I like personalized learning because it allows flexibility while adhering to the Curriculum Framework.

Other benefits of my methods:

Increased Engagement: Gamification elements make learning more fun and interactive.
Deeper Understanding: Personalization allows students to focus on areas they need more support in and delve deeper into topics they find fascinating.
Improved Soft Skills: Students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills through personalized learning activities.

HOPE TO MEET YOU!! KRISTA BLUE
