About Charlie
I’m an environmental engineering student which is where my experience with algebra comes from. My passion for tutoring comes from my experiences this past year including working at a tutoring centre, guiding my siblings and family friends through their maths assignments. I’m keen to run group tutoring sessions because my experience as a debate coach for a class of students means I’m comfortable addressing a group and keeping people engaged in content that can sometimes be boring for them.

To summarise my teaching methodology I would say that I work mostly with school- provided revision questions and I try to teach the student strategies that can be applied to any complex/unfamiliar question to lead them to the answer.
When I’m teaching I try to make the best possible use of resources provided to the student by their school, because I think using practice tests and revision sheets that will actually reflect the content on the exam will help make the student feel more prepared and confident. When going through revision sheets with students I aim to give them advise on how to interpret questions and design a plan to solve them. I encourage students to strategies such as drawing diagrams to assist interpretation, clearly identifying the aim of the question, and planning what calculations will need to be done to complete the question before beginning, which usually means I don’t have to risk patronising them by over explaining every question.
