About Avalon
I am an entry level History Teacher with a particular passion for encouraging creativity and analytical thinking in education. I earned my Masters of History at Texas A&M with a particular emphasis in modern history, working as a Teaching Fellow throughout the course of my program. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Arkansas, earning three Bachelor's degrees in History, German Language, and European Studies with a minor in both Anthropology and Religious Studies. I studied abroad during both of my programs, and was able to complete course work through Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz as well as the Goethe-Institut in Munich.

I am adept and conscientious in preparing lesson plans that are specifically catered towards the abilities of my students in order to both encourage and challenge them during their pursuit of knowledge. While I specialize in History lessons, I also know that writing and test taking skills are crucial to a students success. I am intimiately familiar with the ACT, PSAT, SAT, and GRE, and I believe that including test taking skills into general course work better prepares students to excell at every level of the education process. In addition, I believe that teaching methods should be taylored to suit each students strengths in learning, as well as to address their main weaknesses and improve overall study habits. We each learn differently and can excell through a variety of study methods that are often overlooked in a traditional classroom setting.
