About Jack
After time at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, I currently study at the Royal College of Music in London and work in my part-time position of Teacher of Brass at the Peterborough School. Having toured and performed internationally with various ensembles on French Horn, Tenor Horn and Trumpet, I now spend many hours a day practising the Horn and honing my skills, alongside playing in orchestras and chamber ensembles, and receiving tuition from some of the finest musicians in the world. I teach a broad range of students, diverse in age, ability and aims.
Due to my academic studies at the RCM I have proficient music theory and aural skills, and I believe this forms a fundamental part of the development of any musician. I am comfortable teaching to all ABRSM and Trinity Music Theory exams, helping in preparation for the aural requirements of instrumental exams, and I also have experience tutoring for GCSE and A Level Music exams as well as Music Technology, in which I received an A* A2 Level grade.
In the theatre I have worked as a Musical Director at the Trinity Theatre, Tunbridge Wells and Curve Theatre, Leicester, alongside other professional shows. This experience working with a wide range of singers, from young adults to trained professionals has given me a wealth of problem-solving experience, and my teaching encourages the use of good breath support, which in turn releases tension, freeing the voice. This will expand range and improve tone and control, allowing you to just enjoy singing!
I am punctual, adaptable, professional, enthusiastic, and experienced in working with and teaching students of all ages. My timetable is flexible and changeable, so please don't hesitate to get in touch to organise a lesson!

Genuinely, best music teacher I have had! Can teach composition right from the basics, and is very patient.
Jack is an inspirational, kind and patient tutor who has rekindled my daughter's enthusiasm for music. He identified in their first lesson that she might be better suited to French Horn than to the trumpet, which she had been struggling with, and encouraged her to believe in herself again. I wholeheartedly recommend.
I have only just started working with Jack but have so far found him extremely knowledgable on the subject of Music Theory. I am an adult learner studying for ABRSM grade 6 theory. Jack makes sure that the lessons are challenging and I feel that I am being given a good basis, not only for the exam, but for future musical study.
We've only recently met Jack but our son is a big fan already. We hired Jack to help with cornet practice and with moving new pieces along. He did that in spades and used a variety of different techniques which were effective and interesting. He built a rapport with the young student very quickly and certainly has credibility.
Trumpet practice had become a ritual and increasingly difficult to achieve. Jack is a breath of fresh air and his enthusiasm and professionalism is infectious. We are enjoying playing again and enjoying improving. Jack is more than just a trumpet teacher, he has many talents which allows him to make the lessons effective but fun.
I've been taking singing lessons with Jack for the last 2 months, about once a week.
I can say without a doubt that they are a highlight of an otherwise stressful week.
This is thanks to Jack's super friendly attitude to rehearsals. That's not to say he doesn't push you hard, he makes it very clear that it's a two way street and he can't help if you don't put the effort in yourself.
He'll make you do all sorts of strange exercises, but takes the time to explain how they affect your singing and what the benefits are. Rather than going through the motions with some songs, he'll focus on technique and fundamentals until you're ready to actually sing.Since 2014, Jack has taught me singing and English (as a second language).
I am extremely happy with his work and have already made a lot of progress.
Jack is obviously very passionate about teaching, he is always friendly, helpful, and eager.
It goes without saying that he is always punctual and well prepared.
As a teacher, Jack works at a very fast pace. He is able to do this because he has excellent hearing (and listening) skills, extensive musical knowledge, and a talent for explanation. So, whenever I have a question or he notices an issue he can give an answer or a correction which is tailored precisely to my voice.
I would strongly recommend Jack as a singing teacher and language coach.Jack isn't the first person to try and teach me to sing, but he is the first to make complete sense while doing it. A natural, engaging, enthusiastic teacher, who clearly has a great understanding of what he is doing. He couldn't come any more highly recommended from me.
