As an English teacher, my primary goal is to foster a comprehensive, engaging, and communicative learning environment that empowers students to become confident readers, articulate writers, and effective communicators. My pedagogical approach integrates all core pillars of the language—Reading, Writing, Grammar, Listening, and Speaking—into a cohesive, student-centered curriculum.
1. Reading Comprehension & Literature Appreciation
* Textual Analysis: Guiding students to analyze fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and drama to identify themes, tone, literary devices, and character development.
* Active Reading Strategies: Teaching annotation, skimming, scanning, inferencing, and critical evaluation to decode complex passages.
* Vocabulary Expansion: Contextual vocabulary building, studying roots, prefixes, suffixes, and idioms to enrich reading fluency and comprehension.
2. Structured & Expressive Writing
* Process Writing Approach: Walking students through the complete writing cycle: brainstorming/pre-writing, drafting, peer editing, revising, and publishing.
* Diverse Genres: Training students in narrative, descriptive, expository, argumentative, analytical, and creative writing formats.
* Coherence & Structure: Focus on thesis formulation, paragraph organization (topic sentences, supporting evidence), transitional flow, and stylistic voice.
3. Practical & Contextual Grammar
* Functional Application: Moving beyond rote memorization of rules to teach grammar in context, showing how syntax, punctuation, and mechanics shape clear meaning.
