ABOUT ME
Delivering Exceptional Service to Students
I have been the Academic Assistant Head and Head of English at local Independent School in Shrewsbury and have also been and I am currently a full time English teacher. I can provide lessons in KS3 and GCSE and A Level as English Literature, English in a local mainstream school. I am also able to provide academic writing lessons for national and international students who want to improve their written abilities.
I spend a considerable amount of time making sure that I am informed about current research in teaching and learning. I have trialled a number of new techniques and theories and have utilised many of them to improve and support my teaching practice.
Over the last eight years I have developed KS3, GCSE and A Level resources I have completely restructured schemes of work and marking policies to ensure that all students from across all ability groups can be monitored and their progress tracked. I have also developed and implemented new departmental marking and planning policies and teaching strategies in line with Blooms theory.
I utilise web-based programmes such as Google Classoom, Sway, Kahoot and Memrise to support learning and the distribution of resources. Students will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively via Google Docs to speed up the learning process.
My lessons are lively, interesting, creative, engaging and enthusiastic but most importantly they are instructive and effective. I am extremely passionate about my subject and enjoy the variety of ways that in can be delivered to pique the interest of the students within the class.
I am currently undertaking a two-year part time MA in Teaching and Learning through Oxford University where I am specifically looking at how gifted and talented programmes can be developed.
