About Mercy
I’m an English major specialising in Creative and Professional Writing. I am a published writer with a short story included in a Polar Expressions Publishing anthology as part of their annual youth writing competition. I have a passion for helping students grow as writers and communicators.
I’ve taught in multiple contexts, including camp counselling, Cadet instruction, and creative writing to elementary students, helping to develop their creativity, reading comprehension, and general writing skills. Whether a student is struggling with grammar, building an essay, or exploring creative writing, I meet them where they are and help them move forward with clarity and confidence. I believe every student has a unique voice, and my goal is to help them, and my goal is to help them discover it.
My lessons are ideal for elementary, middle school, and high school students, ESL learners looking to improve their reading or writing, and anyone who wants to strengthen their writing skills in a supportive, personalised setting.

I teach English, creative writing, essay writing, and general writing skills. My goal is to help students feel confident and capable and help them find their voice through writing.
My teaching style is patient, structured, and adaptable. I focus on breaking down tasks into clear steps, guiding students through revision and editing, building confidence through practice, and tailoring lessons to each student's learning style. I believe the best method to improve writing is to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn from them.
A typical lesson plan usually includes:
1. Check-in: talking about and understanding the student's goals for the day
2. Lesson: moving into the main lesson, explaining and talking about any areas the student has concerns with or needs help in
3. Practice: working through writing together, step by step
4. Feedback & Revision: improving clarity, structure, and flow
5. Questions & next steps: the student can ask any questions they have and set small, achievable tasks for continued progress together
Students are welcome to bring assignments, essays, creative p, and of course, questions. Every lesson is flexible and built around what the student needs most.
My lessons are suitable for:
